The California Lightning Sprints are the premier winged Lightning Sprints series in the country. 2024 marks the Southern California based club's 30th season of operation. Lightning sprints are 1000cc super-bike powered full midget chassis that are one of the most exciting experiences in short track racing. The relatively small dirt and clay oval tracks (1/4 - 1/3 mile) and high speeds (in excess of 100 mph) make for easy-to-view, action-packed, high-intensity racing for everyone. Drivers must possess extraordinary reflexes, coordination, and setup skills in order to excel in these cars. Whether as a gateway series to full sized sprint cars or as a destination for the local racer who wants to hone their keen senses and competitive skills, Lightning Sprints are the biggest bang for your buck and have something for everyone. We provide a series that is professionally run, administrated and highly competitive.

  The Craziest Show On Dirt, Night of Destruction, Returns to Perris Saturday - Kids 5 and Under Free

  Perris, California — August 18, 2026 — It is that time of the month again! This Saturday night, the "Craziest Show on Dirt," Night of Destruction, returns to the "Southern California Home of Motorized Mayhem," Perris Auto Speedway. Spectator gates for the night of dirt track destruction and clean family fun will open at 5:00 p.m., with the motorized chaos beginning at 7:00. As always, children 5 and under will be admitted free. Fan involvement in the night of fun begins shortly after the gates swing open. From 5:15 to 5:45, all fans will be invited onto the track to see the cars up close, take photos, meet the drivers and collect candy. Soon after the on-track meet-and-greet ends, cars will hit the track for practice before the wild night of racing takes the green flag with daring Figure 8 heat races. The action will also include a zany Figure 8 Trailer Race, rough-and-tumble Demo Cross, mighty Mini Stocks on the challenging road course and the outrageous Double Deckers. Basically, the only rule at Night of Destruction is a safety rule. "It is no holds barred racing," promoter Don Kazarian said. "Basically, the only rule is no hitting in the driver's door. Besides that, if you want to spin another car or crash another car, it is all legal. The only other thing that can get a driver in trouble is straying off the course, and that very seldom happens. It is a good night of dirt track racing combined with destruction derby type action." In addition to the racing and meet-and-greet, there is even more for the fans. During the Demo Cross heats, infield announcer Tom Gillum ventures into the grandstands to find contestants. If they correctly pick the winner of the heat, they receive four free tickets to an upcoming event at the famous Riverside County clay oval. The crowd involvement continues at intermission. Rising quarter midget driver Hailey Boydston Rosales will lead the kids in a pair of dance battles, with each winner receiving a Perris Auto Speedway T-shirt. While that is going on, PAS T-shirts will also be launched into the grandstands. In addition, every fan entering the track will be handed a free raffle ticket. As soon as Hailey completes the dance battles, three tickets will be drawn, and three lucky fans will win brand-new kids' bicycles. After intermission, the final main events of the night will take place, capped by the wild Demo Cross main. Fans are usually on their way home between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. "It is a night of fun and racing," Kazarian stated. "We want to entertain them with the racing and fan activities and have them on their way home at a decent hour." Adult tickets are $25. Students ages 13-17 with school ID are $15. Kids ages 6-12 are $10, and children 5 and under are free. Active military personnel with proper ID are admitted for $5. Parking is $20, payable by card only. Advance tickets are available at tix.com. For fans who do not wish to purchase tickets in advance, plenty will be available at the ticket window on race night. The August schedule wraps up Saturday, August 29, with 600cc Winged Restricted Micro Sprints, Non-Wing A-Class Micros, Lightning Sprints and Dwarf Cars. It will mark the first-ever Micro Sprint event at the 30-year-old speedway and the first Perris appearances in several years for the Lightning Sprints and Dwarf Cars.   Sprint Cars, Stock Cars, Bicycle Giveaways and Family Fun Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway

  Perris, California — August 10, 2026 — Perris Auto Speedway roars back to life this Saturday, August 15, when Heimark Distributors Anheuser-Busch presents the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars along with PASSCAR Super Stocks, Street Stocks and Factory Stocks. In addition to a full night of wheel-to-wheel racing, fans will enjoy bicycle giveaways, a kids' dance battle, T-shirt launches, the Heat Race Hero Contest and more. It all adds up to a fast-paced night of racing and family entertainment at the famous Riverside County clay oval. Two of the hottest sprint car drivers at The PAS will be in action. Peoria, Arizona youngster Connor Lundy dominated the most recent race for his first USAC/CRA 410 Sprint Car victory. At the previous event, he finished second behind 2023 series champion Brody Roa. Roa made his 2026 debut at the Salute to Indy and immediately finished second behind two-time defending champion RJ Johnson of Laveen, Arizona. He went one better in June, scoring the victory at Perris. Last month, Roa was third-fastest in qualifying before mechanical problems struck on his second lap. Shaver Engineering returned the repaired engine Monday night, and Roa will be ready to rumble Saturday. In addition for USAC/CRA fans, longtime USAC/CRA media guru Lance Jennings is bringing in longtime series star Matt Mitchell before Saturday's race for one of his "Heroes and Legends Meet and Greets." Popular Mitchell will be talking racing, and signing autographs for fans. The PASSCAR championship battles are heating up as well. Two-time champion Rick Arringdale of Victorville leads good friend John Caley by 12 points in the Super Stocks. Arringdale's most recent PAS championship came 25 years ago in 2001. In the Factory Stocks, Canyon Lake realtor David Stites, winner of three of the last four championships, has taken over the point lead after a victory and a second-place finish in the last two races. The top four are separated by only six points. Cameron Broe of Ramona trails by three, Andrew Schmitz of Ramona is four back, and 2023 champion Kris Carnish of Menifee sits just six points out of the lead. Chad Mahony of Yorba Linda leads the Street Stocks by 12 points over George Leventis of Rancho Palos Verdes. Mahony's teammate, Morgan Rowlan of Riverside, is third as Mahony continues his pursuit of his first PAS championship. The excitement will continue during intermission when three lucky fans will win brand-new kids' bicycles. Every fan entering the speedway will receive a free raffle ticket, with three winning numbers drawn during the break. Kids will also take center stage in the always-popular dance battle, with the top dancers receiving free track T-shirts. Meanwhile, the PAS crew will launch additional shirts into the grandstands. Sprint car fans will also have a chance to participate in the Heat Race Hero Contest. Randomly selected fans who correctly pick a heat race winner will receive four free tickets to a future Perris Auto Speedway event. The action continues one week later on August 22 when the wildly popular Night of Destruction returns for another evening of motorized mayhem.   Brent Sexton Scores Top-10 Finish in Petaluma USCS Race

  Lakeside, CA — July 18, 2026 — Veteran racer Brent Sexton made the long haul to Northern California last weekend for Ultimate Sprint Car Series races at Watsonville and Petaluma Speedways. A ninth-place finish in his first appearance at Petaluma highlighted an enjoyable weekend of dirt-track racing. Sexton, a Tennessee native who resides in Lakeside, California, kicked off the two-night trip Friday at Watsonville. In 2025, when the facility was known as Ocean Speedway, the three-time Lightning Sprint Car champion made his first appearance on the quarter-mile track located 88 miles south of San Francisco. In one of his best performances of the season, he started seventh in the main event, raced inside the top five and finished fifth. Unfortunately, his return visit last week did not produce the same result. After recording a qualifying lap of 13.230, Sexton, the only member of the SGR team competing during the weekend, started and finished sixth in his heat race. He began the main event in 18th and advanced three positions to finish 15th. On Saturday, Sexton traveled north to Petaluma, California, a city once known as "The Egg Capital of the World," for his first appearance at Petaluma Speedway. Looking to rebound at the North Bay track, Sexton stopped the qualifying clock at 16.178. The lap was third-fastest in his group and ninth-best overall. He followed his strong qualifying effort with a third-place finish in his heat race. That placed him on the inside of the fifth row, ninth overall, for the main event. Sexton maintained that position throughout the race and crossed the finish line ninth. The result marked Sexton's 12th top-10 finish in 20 A-main starts during the 2026 season.   Night of Destruction Returns to Perris Saturday - Brand-New E-Bike Will Be Given Away

  Perris, California — July 21, 2026 — One month after attracting Perris Auto Speedway's largest crowd of 2026, Night of Destruction returns to the Riverside County speed plant this Saturday, July 25. Spectator gates for "The Craziest Show on Dirt" will open at 5:00 p.m., with the motorized mayhem beginning at 7:00. In addition to the wild Night of Destruction action, the evening will feature a kids' dance battle and T-shirt launches at intermission. Fans will also have opportunities to win four free tickets to any upcoming event at The PAS through the popular Heat Race Heroes contest. Also, every fan attending Saturday's event will receive a raffle ticket. One ticket will be drawn at intermission, and the lucky winner will leave the speedway with a brand-new GoTrax e-bike. "We are hoping to have another wild night and a big crowd on Saturday," promoter Don Kazarian said. "Just when you think the Night of Destruction cannot get any crazier, the drivers prove you wrong. The race last month saw wild, no-holds-barred crashes. The figure eight trailer race may have been the best one we ever had. In Demo Cross, we had one car get stuck on top of the crash wall." Recently, The PAS has been giving away bicycles at every race. This week, the promotion is being taken to the next level, with one fan winning a brand-new e-bike. "We had planned to give the e-bike away last Saturday at the micro sprint race," Kazarian said. "When we had to cancel that race, we decided to switch it up and give it away this week. It is a very nice bike and whoever wins it is going to be very happy." Fans are encouraged to arrive early to meet the drivers and collect autographs and candy on the track from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. Heading into Saturday's event, Jesse Gordon, a respiratory therapist at Kaiser Permanente in Riverside, holds an 18-point lead over Whittier's Douglas Schattilly in the Figure 8 standings. In the Trailer Figure 8 division, defending champion Lane Hofarth of San Jacinto carries a 21-point advantage over Orange's Rob Multhaupt. Chino's Mike Brown, who drives the popular "Cops" SUV, owns a more comfortable lead in the Demo Cross championship standings. He is 33 points ahead of two-time champion Trebor Stephens, who also resides in San Jacinto. In the mini stocks, 2024 champion Steven Green Jr. leads Isaac Salazar of Mentone by 12 points before Saturday's race. In the zany double deckers, three-time defending champion Bug Ya' Later is tied with Hot Diggity Dodge for first place as the season enters its second half. In the Overall Iron Man chase, which combines points from all the classes, Hofarth has built a commanding 225-point lead over defending champion Multhaupt heading into Saturday's action. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 7:05 on Saturday. Adult tickets are $25.00. Students 13-18 with their school id will get in for $15.00. For kids 6-12 it is $10.00, and children 5 and under are free. For active military with proper ID, it is $5.00. Parking is $20.00 and the parking fee is by car only.   Sexton Gatlin Racing Doing Double Duty at Ventura Raceway

  Lakeside, CA — June 25, 2026 — After a rare three-week break in its 2026 schedule, Sexton Gatlin Racing returns to action this Saturday night, June 27, in a rare doubleheader at Ventura Raceway. The event, the SureCan Showdown, is an Ultimate Sprint Car Series twin bill featuring both non-wing and winged sprint cars. Brent Sexton will compete in his 410 sprint car on the wingless side of the program. Between the USCS, Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, California Lightning Sprints, SoCal Lightning Sprints, and winged 360s, the veteran driver from Lakeside, California, has been one of the busiest racers in the Golden State in 2026. Saturday will mark his 18th start of the season, and the beachside oval is one he has raced on for decades. Sexton, a three-time lightning sprint car series champion, has finished in the top 10 nine times in his 17 starts this year. His best result came at Ventura on March 21, when he placed second in the California Lightning Sprint Car Series main event. Saturday will be his sixth start with the USCS this season. His best finish with the club came on March 28, when he crossed the line seventh at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare. He also finished ninth with the series at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway on May 30. Grant Sexton will be racing the team's winged 360 at Ventura. A veteran of lightning sprint racing, like his father, he is no stranger to winged competition. However, this will be only his second start in a winged 360 sprint car. His first came last November at Merced Speedway against a tough field. Impressively, he qualified 21st fastest of the 31 cars on hand. After a seventh-place finish in his heat race, he was forced into the B main, where he captured one of the four transfer spots. He started 24th in the main event and finished 20th. Grant, who will turn 22 on July 16, will be making his seventh start of 2026. Like his father, he has contested a varied schedule that includes the Ultimate Sprint Car Series, California Lightning Sprints, and SoCal Lightning Sprints. His best finish of the year came on April 4, when he scored a victory with the CLS at Santa Maria Speedway. Gates will open at 3:00 p.m. at Ventura, with the first race scheduled for 5:30.
